The white lions of Timbavati

An account of the discovery and lives of three white lions born in the Timbavati Nature Reserve in Africa, whose survival is in constant jeopardy because of their conspicuous colour and lack of natural camouflage.

Chris McBride spent several years studying a particular pride of lions on the Timbavati Nature Reserve in the Lowveld of north-eastern Transvaal. The White Lions of Timbavati is a unique book of lion lore, written out of McBride's deep sympathy for lions, his first-hand knowledge of life in the bush and his ever-growing concern for the plight of the white cubs.
