A stray cat
My parents have started feeding a stray cat that lives in the building's basement. She's not even afraid of riding the elevator anymore, though the first few times it was tricky to get her up to the 10th floor and then back down. Now she follows along on her own, knowing she'll get her fill in the end. Out in the yard there's competition from other cats and a few dogs that won't let her eat in peace, but in the apartment it's a different story — plus she can lie in a draft after the daytime heat.
