Spark's Protect the Prime Minister
Three years ago I was actively playing San Andreas: MultiPlayer. I played quite a lot thanks to the Spark's Protect the Prime Minister server, which ran the game mode of the same name. If not for it, playing GTA: SA online would have gotten boring fast, which is exactly what happened when the server was abandoned because of bugs after a SAMP version update and hosting problems. Then it came back to life when the full-fledged MTA: SA was released, but the game there wasn't the same anymore - the mechanics had changed, a lot of things in the maps had been made for SA-MP; the mode has more than a dozen maps now, by the way. There was also a similar server in SA-MP where you had to rescue presidents, but it turned out to be many times worse than PTMP. There's a lot you can say about PTMP, it has many maps, each with its own quirks, and in each one you can choose several routes to protect the prime minister. But the server was closed for a long time: GTA 4 came out in the meantime with its own multiplayer, and a whole bunch of different SA-MP servers sprang up.
And now, this Friday the server opened again. On the evening of the opening day there was already nobody on it. But on Saturday I managed to get a great game in. There were more than 10 people, just the right number for playing, because when there are more than 30 it turns into who-knows-what. It was nice to play together with the people I used to play with several years ago, nostalgia... My impressions of the gameplay are entirely positive, it's better than all the online modes in GTA 4 and better than all the other SAMP and MTA servers. It's great to protect the prime minister again, to try to heal on the move so he survives, and to kill enemies running away with a Desert Eagle, accounting for the lag. When few people were left on the server, the admins just started fooling around, messing with gravity and teleportation, that was also very funny, even though it got old quickly.
In short, if anyone still plays Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas - MultiPlayer 0.3a, then I strongly recommend adding the server 217.18.70.247:26999 to your favorites, and playing on it whenever possible. This isn't a dumb deathmatch and it isn't an RPG server with leveling up; you could say it's a save-the-VIP mode, but the maps here are big and either missions or extra locations have been added to them to make the game more interesting; there's also a medic subclass for the police and the terrorists, who can heal the others. I always play as a cop medic, I like healing the others, plus this class has the Desert Eagle as a weapon, which I handle well in SA-MP. Now I handle it even better, because over these years the connection quality has improved and the server moved from England to Holland, the ping dropped to 60-80, whereas back then it was over 120.
The server is English, so to play normally you need at least to understand the language, and to play as the prime minister you need to be able to write in English so you can tell everyone your plans. Russians show up on it sometimes, but they're no use at all, since they don't know English, they only flood the chat, show off their stupidity and rudeness, and sometimes they get in the way of the others; in the end you regret that you understand Russian. I know not everyone is like that, but in the case of GTA that's how it works out. So, in that respect, it's even a plus that there's no permanent gang of Russians on the server.
Here's the address of the server's site: http://sparksptpm.co.uk There isn't much left there now, but even that is enough, the main thing is that now you can spend an evening playing something interesting and exciting.
I didn't find much interesting video about the server on YouTube, if you don't count the video where it was shown on national TV, only this is left:
