More about tigers and me in the newspaper

I bought this issue of the Daily Mail. Downloading it required the PressReader program; the newspaper itself, 40 MB in PDN format, took about an hour to download. After opening it in the program, it turned out the file would only be available for 59 days, which means it can't be saved permanently. I couldn't find how to convert PDN into a usable format, so I just took screenshots of the window and stitched them together. The press in the West is at an interesting level; I wonder when ours will get to something like this.

Now, about the publication itself. It's funny to read a quote attributed to me in the article that I never said. Only today did it occur to me to find the news, which turned out to be from July 29 of last year and contained the following:

Two female tiger cubs, born a month and a half ago at the Mykolaiv Zoo, were shown to the zoo's visitors. All this time, so as not to upset the mom and not to jinx the striped kitties, they weren't shown to anyone.

For the young tigress Agrippina, who is herself, by the way, a native of the Mykolaiv menagerie, these were her first cubs. But the father — three-year-old beauty Helios — is an immigrant; he was brought last year from the Polish city of Poznań.

It got even more amusing.

And the thing is, I never told the British journalist anything about brothers, or about the mom — in fact, I explicitly mentioned that they were female. And it was Helios who was calming them down. Maybe the problem is my "terrible English," or maybe it's my original entry about what happened, which was possibly translated in England. Although, most likely, it was simply written that way to make it interesting and easier to read. After all, what matters isn't the accuracy of the information, but how interesting its presentation is and how fast the article gets written. Two one-year-old females fighting for a couple of minutes are less interesting and obvious :)

On the newspaper's site itself, in the comments, most people busied themselves with feeding the troll rather than discussing the article; maybe that situation is normal, I rarely visit places like that.

P.S. Caters News called on the day of publication; I wonder whether I'll manage to get the money I earned for the photo out of them.
